INTERNATIONAL EXPOLIVA AWARDS
EXPOLIVA 2019 – INTERNATIONAL FAIR OF THE OLIVE OIL AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES
Fundación del Olivar continuing its mission of promoting the consumption based on quality, in this new edition we extend the geographical scope of participation of the producers in the awards to the quality of the extra virgin olive oil, giving them one character more overall, according to the international expansion of consumption and culture.
The new edition of the EXPOLIVA international awards, will be open to all Virgin olive oil-producing countries in the growing areas belonging to the two hemispheres: Northern and southern.
For that the next awards are instituted:
– BEST OLIVE OIL EXPOLIVA NORTHERN HEMISPHERE AWARD
– BEST OLIVE OIL EXPOLIVA SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE AWARD
We have defined two consecutive calls, taking into account the different vegetative cycles of olive trees existing in the two hemispheres. The first will end on 31 October for the southern hemisphere and the second on December 14 for the northern hemisphere (mainly countries of the basin Mediterranean).
EXPOLIVA COUNTRY AWARDS
Also the awards established by countries, for those producers who exceed a minimum score (75 points) and attended by a number of samples that make representative number of participants belonging to that country.
There will be also two categories within the awards, taking into account the method of cultivation:
I. Conventional or Integrated Production Systems
II. Organic farming systems
As a conclusion drawn from the deliberations of the Group of expert consultants from the international prize of EXPOLIVA, the contest collected three groups in which oil samples are classified according to the intensity of the fruity:
FI. Intense Fruity
FM. Medium Fruity
FL. Light Fruity
ORIGIN OF THE SAMPLES AND ANONYMITY OF THE PARTICIPANTS
Will use a system of double key assigned by a notary of origin during extraction of samples in the mills, to ensure the origin of the samples, and secret keys assigned by a notary in destination to ensure the anonymity of the samples during the tasting sessions.
The EXPOLIVA AWARDS are the only ones to use this methodology of double key that guarantees the transparency of the competition, protocol used since its creation.
TRACEABILITY AND CALCULATION OF SCORES
Shall be made with continuous MCVS sensory evaluation system base 100 points, through the INTRAPANEL platform, through acquisition and data processing entirely digital in real time.
This will be an international cast of expert tasters at the highest level, recognized prestige and experience coming from the main producing countries.
Finally, we must reiterate that the objective of the call for these international award EXPOLIVA is:
1. On the one hand, to recognize the efforts made by the world olive oil producers in the improvement of the quality.
2. Endorse the quality of the selected extra virgin olive oils as a strategy for promoting consumption, through the granting of a few awards that are international reference of few are granted at present.
3. Promote the quality culture of global olive oil from Jaén, Andalusia and Spain.
EXPOLIVA EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL QUALITY AWARDS were instituted for the first time in 1986, the being of greater seniority and tradition of those who summon in the international context.
