PRESENTATION
In line with the trajectory established at previous events, the XI Scientific-Technical Symposium of EXPOLIVA is structured into four debate forums on relevant areas linked to the olive oil sector:
q Forum on the Olive Grove and the Environment. q Olive-Oil Technology and Quality Forum. q Economic and Social Forum. q Forum on Health and the Olive Oil.
In spite of maintaining a thematic unit in each forum, this event has taken a deeper look at aspects related to the research programmes currently underway.
In this way, the Olive-Oil Technology Forum sets forth significant advances in oil grading techniques. The traditional organoleptic grading techniques are complemented by faster assessment methods via sensors or analytic determinations of the main volatile components of the olive oil, to date assessed by sensory methods.
The Forum of the Olive Grove places special emphasis on the environmentally friendly growing techniques. Research related with the production potential of the olive grove is outlined within the appropriate use of production means. Papers on water, fertilisers and phytosanitary products shall make special reference to their use according to the physical medium; whether for reasons of scarcity as is the case of water, environmental conservation and sustainability over time.
Papers within the Economic and Social Forum shall centre on the analysis of foreign markets and the growth potential of exports of different olive oils according to the dominant consumer habits in each country.
Finally, the Forum on Health shall debate the initiatives in this field and that are currently linked to the Programme of research excellence on olive oil and health. |
